The Crime Records Center is a multi-functional center supporting the Army, the command, foreign, federal, state and local law enforcement agencies.

The U.S. Army Crime Records Center is made up of two separate divisions:

Records Request

All formal requests for records must provide the below listed information, and must be emailed to ✉: U.S. Army Crime Records Request or faxed to 571-305-4155.

MEDIA: If you are a member of the media or are looking to request your own records or records on another individual for personal use you must fill out and submit an ► Army CID FOIA request form. 

For law enforcement or government agencies conducting criminal or employment investigations, or Veterans Affairs representatives: 

  1. Submit your request on an official signed letterhead.

  2. Include the subject’s full name, date of birth, and complete Social Security number. Not providing the complete SSN may cause significant delays. 

  3. State the purpose of the request, the type of investigation you are conducting, why you are seeking records, and how the records will be used. 

  4. If for employment purposes a physical, ink singed consent form is required.


For prosecutors and district attorney’s office:

  1. Submit your request on an official signed letterhead.

  2. Include the subject’s full name, date of birth, and complete Social Security number. Not providing the complete SSN may cause significant delays. 

  3. State the purpose of the request, the type of investigation you are conducting, why you are seeking records, and how the records will be used. 

  4. State Docket numbers and court dates if known.

  5. Provide as much detail as you can concerning the case that could assist in researching or discovering supporting documentation.


Important Note:
When releasing records to a District Attorney’s Office, a protection order protecting Department of the Army records during discovery is required before records can be used for trial. Records sent to a District Attorney’s Office prior to receiving a protection order will be Bates numbered and stamped, “For Investigative Purposes Only, Discovery Not Authorized." Once a protection order is received, you will receive a certified records packet that is authorized to be used in trial. This office will provide a protection order template with the required verbiage.
