QUANTICO, Va. –
The Department of the Army Criminal Investigation Division (CID) welcomed Command Sergeant Major Michael A. Ringman as its new senior enlisted leader during an Assumption of Responsibility ceremony held at CID Headquarters.
A native of Kalamazoo, Michigan, CSM Ringman enlisted in the Army in 2004 as a Military Policeman. He brings a wealth of law enforcement and leadership experience to the agency's top enlisted position. Throughout his two-decade career, he has served in critical roles across the Military Police and CID enterprise—including Special Agent, Battalion First Sergeant, and Operations Sergeant Major—at installations ranging from Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson to Schofield Barracks. He has also deployed twice to Iraq.
Ringman added, “As we continue to evolve, my focus remains steadfast on increasing our investigative and executive protection capabilities, while strengthening our readiness, reinforcing our standards and discipline, and championing the professional development of our personnel.”
CSM Ringman is a highly decorated combat veteran whose awards include the Purple Heart, the Combat Action Badge, and the Order of Marechaussee in Bronze, alongside numerous merit and campaign medals reflecting his extensive service. Complementing his operational background, he holds a master’s degree in criminal justice and is a graduate of elite military and civilian law enforcement programs, including the CID Special Agent Course, the FBI National Academy, and the Sergeants Major Academy.
As the new Command Sergeant Major, Ringman will advise the CID Director on all enlisted matters and assist in steering the agency's ongoing global mission. His deep background in both conventional military policing and specialized criminal investigations ensures that Army CID’s enlisted force remains expertly led and fully prepared to support the modern warfighter.
