Special Agent Robert P. Tracy became the Deputy Director of the U.S. Army Criminal Investigation Division, CID, in January 2023. He serves as the Deputy Director of the Department of the Army’s independent criminal investigative authority, free of actual or perceived undue command influence, reporting directly to the Under Secretary of the Army.
Deputy Director Tracy oversees five directorates which provide global support in the conduct of significant criminal investigations, protective service operations, forensics, and investigative support to military commissions. He maintains executive liaison with federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies, and is responsible for training, personnel readiness, maintenance, and logistical support for no-notice deployment for Army, Joint, and combined contingency operations worldwide.
Prior to his selection as Deputy Director, Special Agent Tracy was promoted to the Senior Executive Service in November 2010 and has over 30 years of Federal law enforcement service. Special Agent Tracy also held the position of Senior Program Manager for CACI International Inc., where he led several large projects directly supporting the US government. Prior government leadership positions include Executive Assistant Director, Management and Administration, NCIS; Executive Assistant Director for National Security, NCIS; Assistant Director for Operational Support, NCIS; Special Agent-in-Charge, NCIS; Deputy Assistant Director, NCIS and various other leadership and journeyman positions with NCIS.
Special Agent Tracy earned a Bachelor of Arts from Manhattan College and a law degree from Pace University, NY. He is a certified Project Management Professional and he has received numerous awards and recognition for investigative excellence and leadership, including the Superior Civilian Service Award.
