Olga Morales' Professional Journey

Special Agent-in-Charge

I am honored to have been selected as the Special Agent-in-Charge to lead the dedicated civilian and military men and women of Army CID assigned to the Southwest Field Office’s (SWFO) area of responsibility encompassing the Fort Bliss, Fort Irwin, Fort Huachuca and the Presidio of Monterrey installations.  I will strive to ensure that the SWFO remains a positive contributor to the community and will strive to expand our working relationship with stakeholders, while educating and protecting the communities we serve.

“I am humbled to join the dedicated civilian and military men and women of Army CID, who exemplify professionalism in their trade-craft and commitment to keep our communities safe. I’m also deeply honored to guide them through the CID transformation.”

Prior to my current assignment with Army CID, I was an Assistant Special Agent-in-Charge (ASAC) for U.S. Customs and Border Protection’s Office of Professional Responsibility for El Paso, Texas whose area of responsibility encompassed the entire state of New Mexico and the West Texas region. Some of the high-profile investigations I was involved in included a mass shooting at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas; and a deadly shooting of a New Mexico State Police officer on a New Mexico highway leading to the driver being shot and killed by law enforcement after a vehicle pursuit on the highway.

With 32 years of federal government service, my investigative experience has been acquired through previous assignments to include the following:  ASAC for Army CID; ASAC for U.S. Customs and Border Protection’s Office of Professional Responsibility (CBP OPR); Special Agent for U.S. Department of Homeland Security Office of Inspector General (DHS OIG); Special Agent for U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Office of Inspector General (HHS OIG); Diversion Investigator for the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA); and Investigative Assistant with U.S. Immigration and Naturalization Service. In addition, I pursued my degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Texas at El Paso with continued studies from American University, Washington, D.C.

While my path as a female in law enforcement hasn’t always been easy, perseverance, dedication and sacrifices have all been part of the journey. The challenges that I’ve faced in my career have not only made me stronger, but they have shaped me into the person I am today.

“There were times when I didn’t understand why certain career opportunities didn’t open for me, only to discover later, that there were better opportunities meant to be in my path. I’m a firm believer that we are where we are meant to be.”

During my tenure, I was afforded the opportunity to gain the knowledge and experience to work a diverse variety of administrative and criminal investigations.  Moreover, I’ve enjoyed mentoring agents from many agencies and providing them with the skill-set of working different types of criminal investigations. In my new role as a Special Agent-in-Charge, I will strive to continue to provide mentorship to special agents and administrative staff in the SWFO with the foundation of teamwork, professionalism, and integrity.
