FORT HOOD, Texas –
On July 1, 2026, the Department of the Army Criminal Investigation Division’s (CID) Central Texas Field Office, based at Fort Hood, carried out search warrants at four smoke shops in Killeen and Copperas Cove, Texas. Investigators identified these businesses as sources of illegal marijuana, THC products, and synthetic cannabinoids being sold to Soldiers. Several locations marketed vape juices containing synthetic cannabinoids including MDMB-4EN-PINACA, a Schedule 1 Controlled Substance, as “Blue Lotus.” Thousands of suspected illegal THC products, marijuana, bulk quantities of suspected synthetic cannabinoids in liquid form, and several firearms were seized during the operation.
“Army CID remains committed to preserving the readiness of Army soldiers by addressing criminal drug threats,” said Lane Allen, Special Agent in Charge of the Central Texas Field Office. “We will relentlessly pursue those who distribute illegal drugs to our Soldiers and poison our community.”
The warrants were the result of months‑long investigations led by Army CID and supported by multiple state and local agencies, including the Texas Department of Public Safety; Killeen Police Department; Copperas Cove Police Department; Bell County Sheriff’s Office; Coryell County Sheriff’s Office; Texas Comptroller Criminal Investigation Division; and the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission Special Investigations Unit.
