Operations Officer, U.S. Army Protective Services Battalion (CID)

Mr. Grant entered the U.S. Army in 1978 as an enlisted Military Policeman and served for 8 years in positions ranging from basic MP Patrolman, MP Desk Sergeant and MP Investigator, to the Corps Counterterrorist NCO at HQ VII Corps. He became an enlisted CID Special Agent in 1986, and served in positions ranging from Special Agent, Team Chief of a Joint Drug Suppression Team to the Chief of Investigative Support of a specialized CID Task Force reporting directly to the Vice Chief of Staff of the Army. His military education includes Basic Training; Military Police Advanced Individual Training; Army Special Reaction Team (SRT) training; Military Police Investigations; CID Basic Special Agent training; Advanced Arson & Explosives training; Basic and Advanced Defense Contract Management training; Protective Services and advanced counterterrorism driver’s training; analytical investigative management training; advanced fraud investigations training; various levels of sexual assault investigations training; the Electronic Security Systems Design course (U.S. Army Corps of Engineers); the Army Operations Security (OPSEC) Officer course; the Warrant Officer Candidate course; the Warrant Officer Basic course; the  Warrant Officer Advance course; the Warrant Officer Staff course, and the Warrant Officer Senior Staff Officer course.

Mr. Grant’s previous Warrant Officer assignments include: Special Agent / Executive Officer, Field Investigative Unit, HQ USACIDC; Personal Security Officer (PSO) to three successive Supreme Allied Commanders, Europe (SACEUR); Officer in Charge of the SACEUR Security Detachment; Special Agent-in-Charge of the St. Louis Resident Agency, 6th MP Group (CID); Assistant Operations Officer at the Bavaria District, 202nd MP Group (CID); Special Agent-in-Charge of the 43rd MP Det (Protective Services) in Tuzla, Bosnia (OJE/OJF); Chief, Protective Services Division, HQ US Army Europe / 7th Army; Assistant Operations Officer, 202nd MP Group (CID); Commander of the 286th MP Det (CID), 1st Infantry Division, Tikrit, Iraq (OIF-2), and Operations Officer, U.S. Army Protective Services BN (CID), at Ft. Belvoir, Virginia, the largest Battalion in the Criminal Investigation Command.  Mr. Grant retired from the Army as a Chief Warrant Officer Five in April, 2010, and returned to Army service as a Department of the Army Civilian in June, 2010.

Mr. Grant’s operational deployments include PSO to SACEUR / CINC EUCOM during Joint Task Force Support Hope in Rwanda, Zaire and the Congo; PSO to SACEUR / CINC EUCOM during the war in Bosnia Herzegovina prior to introduction of U.S. Forces; Special Agent-in-Charge of a criminal investigative Task Force in Sarajevo, Bosnia Herzegovina during Operation Joint Endeavor; Special Agent-in-Charge of the Protective Services Detachment (PSD) for CG 1st Armored Division / Task Force Eagle during Operations Joint Endeavor and Joint Forge, and as Commander, 286th MP Detachment (CID) providing direct criminal investigative support to the 1st Infantry Division (Big Red One) / Task Force Danger throughout Iraq during Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF-2).

Mr. Grant’s civilian education includes an Associate of Applied Science in Criminal Justice from Central Texas College, and a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice Administration from Park University. He is a graduate of the Canadian Police College Major Crimes Management course.

Mr. Grant’s military awards include the Distinguished Service Medal, the Bronze Star Medal, the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal (5), the Joint Services Commendation Medal, the Army Commendation Medal (3), the Army Achievement Medal (2), the Meritorious Unit Commendation, the National Defense Service Medal (2), the Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the NATO Medal, the U.S. Air Force Security Police Identification Badge (master rating), and the Office of the Secretary of Defense and Joint Staff Identification Badges.
