Lieutenant Colonel Wegwu is a Houston, Texas resident. After four and half years of enlistment in the United States  Army, he was commissioned in May 1995, as a Military Police Officer in the United States Army through the US Army Federal Officer Candidate School, Fort Benning,  Georgia. His previous military assignments include:  Platoon leader, 978th Military Police Company, Fort Bliss, Texas; Adjutant, 76th Military Police Battalion, Fort Bliss, Texas; Provost Marshal, 282d Base Support Battalion and the Combat Maneuver Training Center (CMTC) Hohenfels, Germany; Commander, 615th Military Police Company, Kosovo and Grafenwoehr, Germany;  Adjutant, TF 793d  Military Police, Camp Bondsteel, Kosovo; Commander, A Company, 705th Military Police Battalion, USDB, Fort Leavenworth, Kansas; Commander, 291st Internment and Resettlement Military Police Company USDB, Fort Leavenworth, Kansas; Chief, CFLCC Detainee Operations for OIF/OEF; Executive Officer, 795th Military Police Battalion, Fort Leonard Wood Missouri; Brigade S-3, 14th Military Police Brigade, Fort Leonard Wood Missouri; Deputy Senior Advisor / Deputy Director, Bagdad Police College System Training Team, MNSTC-I/USF-I, Iraq; Team Chief, Military Police Operations Future Combat System Capability Development team, CDID, Army Maneuver Support Center of Excellence  (MSCoE) and Chief, Military Police and Army Protection Capability Development Branch, RDD, CDID, MSCoE.

Lieutenant Colonel Wegwu holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice and a Master of Arts degree in Sociology from the University of Houston. His military education includes Airborne Course, Military Police Officer Basic and Captain Career Courses, Combined Arms and Services Staff School (CAS3), Conventional Physical Security Course, Antiterrorism Officer Basic Course, Antiterrorism Officer Advanced Course,  Intermediate Level Education (ILE) and the Capability Development Course.

Lieutenant Colonel Wegwu’s awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal with (4 OLC), Army Commendation Medal with (6 OLC), the Army Achievement Medal with (1OLC), Joint Meritorious Unit Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal and Parachutist Badge. He also earned the German Armed Forces Efficiency Badge (bronze and gold), and the Order of Marechaussee (Bronze).  Finally, Lieutenant Colonel is also a winner of the United States Army, Europe and Seventh Army Command, General Douglas MacArthur Leadership Award for 2001.
