CID Command Sergeant Major

CSM Fitzgerald entered the U.S. Army in May 1992 and attended Advanced Individual Training for Veterinary Food Inspector at Fort Sam Houston, Texas. In 1998, he applied for and was accepted to the CID Special Agent program. Throughout his military career, CSM Fitzgerald has served in a variety of duty positions including CID Investigator, Drug Suppression Team Chief, Detachment Sergeant, Operations Sergeant, First Sergeant, and Command Sergeant Major.

CSM Fitzgerald’s stateside assignments include Fort Huachuca, Ariz.; Carlisle Barracks, Pa.; Fort Campbell, Ky.; and Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Wash. His overseas assignments and deployments include Hanau, Germany; U.S. Army Garrison–Yongsan, Republic of South Korea; Camp Bondsteel, Kosovo; Camp Victory, Iraq; and Kandahar, Afghanistan. CSM Fitzgerald is a combat veteran of both Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom.

CSM Fitzgerald’s military education includes the Primary Leadership Development Course (Distinguished Honor Graduate and PT Award); Advance Leader Course (Commandant’s List); Senior Leader Course (Commandant’s Award); First Sergeant Course (Commandant’s List); U.S. Army Sergeants Majors Academy, Nonresident Course Class #35; Basic Special Agent Course; Protective Services Training Course; Crisis and Hostage Negotiations Course; Child Abuse Prevention and Investigations Course; Master Fitness Trainer Course; Airborne School; and The Sabalauski Assault School. CSM Fitzgerald earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Administration of Justice from Roger Williams University and is completing graduate studies towards his Masters Degree in General Psychology from North Central University.

CSM Fitzgerald’s awards and decorations include the Legion of Merit, the Bronze Star Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal (5 oak leaf clusters), the Army Commendation Medal (2 oak leaf clusters), the Army Achievement Medal (3 oak leaf clusters), the Army Good Conduct Medal (6th award), the National Defense Service Medal (Bronze Star), the Afghanistan Campaign Medal, the Iraq Campaign Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the Korea Defense Service Medal, the Kosovo Campaign Medal (Bronze Star), the Noncommissioned Officers Professional Development Ribbon (Numeric 4), the Army Service Ribbon, the Overseas Service Ribbon (Numeric 3), the Air Assault Badge, the Parachutists Badge, and the German Parachutist Badge. CSM Fitzgerald is also a recipient of the Military Police Regimental Association Order of the Marechaussee (Bronze).
