Command Sergeant Major, 3rd MP Group (CID)

Command Sergeant Major Tara R. Wheadon is originally from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.  She enlisted in the United States Army and graduated from One Station Unit Training, Fort McClellan, Alabama in October 1995. 

CSM Wheadon served in a variety of leadership and staff positions during her career.  Her previous assignments include:  Patrolman and Gunner, A Company, Military Police Activity, Fort Rucker, Alabama and 630th Military Police Company, Schweinfurt, Germany; Squad Leader and Sergeant of the Guard, United States Army Chemical Activity, Pacific (USACAP) Military Police Company, Johnston Atoll, USA; NCOIC of Military Police Investigations, 523rd Military Police Detachment, Fort Riley, Kansas; Drill Sergeant, A Company, 787th Military Police Battalion, Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri; Instructor/Writer for the Protective Service Training Course, A Company, 701st Military Police Battalion, Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri; Detachment Sergeant, Mannheim CID Office, 5th Military Police Battalion (CID), Mannheim, Germany; First Sergeant, 1002nd Military Police Battalion (CID), Bamberg, Germany, Noncommissioned Officer in Charge, Criminal Intelligence Division, Headquarters, United States Army Criminal Investigation Command, Quantico, Virginia; the United States Army Sergeants Major Academy, Fort Bliss, Texas, and most recently the Command Sergeant Major, 10th Military Police Battalion (CID), Fort Bragg, North Carolina.  Her deployments include Operation Enduring Freedom, Bosnia-Herzegovina.

CSM Wheadon’s military education includes the Basic Military Police Training and Advance Individual Training Courses, the Military Police Investigations Course (ASI V5), Primary Leadership Development Course, Basic Noncommissioned Officers Course, Advanced Noncommissioned Officers Course, First Sergeant Course, Sergeants Major Academy (Class 62), Drill Sergeant School, Protective Services Training and Anti-Terrorism Driving Course, the Apprentice Special Agent Course (ASAC), the Evidence Management Certification Course (EMC2), Sergeant Major Force Management Course, and Hostage Negotiations.  She holds a Masters of Science in Psychology from University of Phoenix and pursuing a second Master’s in Management from University of Phoenix

CSM Wheadon’s awards and decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal (2 OLC); the Army Commendation Medal with one Silver cluster; the Army Achievement Medal (4 OLC); the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal; the National Defense Medal with bronze star; the Army Good Conduct Medal (6th award); the NATO Medal; the Driver’s Badge, and the Drill Sergeant Identification Badge.  SGM Wheadon is also a recipient of the Military Police Order of the Marechaussee (bronze) and is a member of the Sergeant Audie Murphy Club.
