Colonel Donna W. Martin is a native of Yorktown, Virginia.  She was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in the Military Police Corps in 1988 after graduating from Old Dominion University with a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice. 

She served over three years as a platoon leader and executive officer with the 66th MP Company, Karlsruhe, Germany.  As a platoon leader, she deployed to Saudi Arabia in support of Operations Desert Shield/Storm from December 1990 – June 1991.  Following her deployment she attended the Military Police Officer Advanced Course at Fort McClellan, Alabama.  Upon completion, she served as the Battalion S-3 for Headquarters Battalion, Fort Belvoir and later commanded the Fort Belvoir Military Police Company.  After command, she served as the XO of the 102nd Military Police Detachment (CID) on Schofield Barracks, HI.  In 1997, COL Martin was assigned to the Force Design Directorate as the Military Police Subject Matter Expert in the design of the Force XXI Division MP Company.  In 2001, COL Martin served as the 3rd Military Police Battalion Executive Officer at Fort Stewart, GA.  The following year she was selected to be the Fort Stewart Garrison S-3.  In this position, she served as the OIC of the Deployment Control Headquarters responsible for the deployment of the 3rd Infantry Division to OIF 01.  Before heading back to Hawaii, COL Martin attended the Joint Command Staff College in Norfolk, Va and assumed her position as the Branch Chief in the US Pacific Command J34 Antiterrorism/Force Protection Directorate.  In 2006, COL Martin was selected to command the 385th Military Police Battalion (Dragoons) in Fort Stewart, Georgia.  The Bn HQs deployed to Afghanistan from 2006-2008 providing command and control to seven (7) Military Police units and a National Guard Field Artillery Company (ILO) throughout Regional Command East.  After command, COL Martin remained at Fort Stewart to serve as the Inspector General of the 3rd Infantry Division and deployed to Iraq in October 2009.  COL Martin is a graduate of the US Army War College in Carlisle Barracks, Pennsylvania.  

Awards and decorations include the Bronze Star (2), Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (4), Army Commendation Medal (6), the Army Achievement Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Medal, the Southwest Asia Campaign Medal, and the Kuwaiti Liberation Medal.  She has served in units awarded both the Joint Meritorious Unit Award and the Meritorious Unit Commendation.
