Commander, 10th Military Police Battalion (CID)

LTC Gerald G. Mapp was born in Sparta, Georgia and enlisted into the Georgia National Guard in 1988. He received his Regular Army commission in the Military Police Corp through ROTC in 1995 from West Georgia College, Carrollton, Georgia.

He earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice and later earned a Masters of Science Degree in Security Management through Webster University, Saint Louis, Missouri.

In 1996, he was assigned to the 557th Military Police Company, Camp Humphreys, Korea and served as a Platoon Leader in the 728th Military Police Battalion. In 1997, he was assigned to the 3rd Military Police Company in Fort Stewart, Georgia where he served as a Platoon Leader in the 3rd Military Police Battalion where he deployed his platoon to Kuwait in support of Operation Desert Spring, then as a Provost Marshal Operations Officer/Special Reaction Team OIC in the 3rd Military Police Battalion, and as the Battalion S4 in the 3rd Military Police Battalion. Then in 2001, he was assigned to the 4th Infantry Division, Fort Hood, Texas where he served as the Military Police Planner for the 4th Infantry Division, and then as a Company Commander for the 411th Military Police Company, 720 Military Police Battalion where he deployed his company in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. In 2003 he was assigned to the Combined Arms Center, Fort Leavenworth, Kansas where he served as the G3 Tasking Officer, and then as the Company Commander for C Company, 705th Military Police Battalion. Then in 2007, he was assigned to the 42nd Military Police Brigade, Fort Lewis, Washington where he served as the Assistant Brigade S3 where he deployed for his second tour in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom, and then as the Battalion S3 for the 508th Military Police Battalion where he deployed for his third tour in support of Operational Iraqi Freedom. After that he served as the Group S3 for the 6th Military Group CID. In 2010, he was assigned to the Drug Enforcement Agency, Alexandria, Virginia where he served as a Military Liaison Officer. Then in 2013, he was assigned to Istanbul, Turkey where he served as the G7 Chief of Training for the NATO Rapid Deployment Corp-Turkey where he deployed to Kabul, Afghanistan where he served as the Chief of Force Protection for ISAF Joint Command.  

He is a graduate of the Command and General Staff College, Military Police Advanced and Basic Courses, Airborne Course, Special Reaction Team Course, and the NATO Force Protection Course. His awards include the Bronze Star, one oak leaf cluster; Defense Meritorious Service Medal one oak leaf cluster, Meritorious Service Medal two oak leaf clusters; Joint Service Commendation Medal; Army Commendation Medal, four oak leaf clusters; Army Achievement Medal, one oak leaf cluster; Valorous Unit Award; National Defense Service Medal; Armed Force Expeditionary Medal; South West Asia Service Medal; Afghanistan Campaign Medal; Iraq Campaign Medal; Global War on Terrorism Service Medal; Korea Defense Service Medal; Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal; Army Service Ribbon; Overseas Service Ribbon, seven tours; Armed Forces Reserve Medal; NATO Medal; Kuwait Liberation Medal; and the Parachutist Badge.
